Health & Human Resources Assistance
An Economic Service Worker from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is available to all patients at Ohio Valley Medical Center several days per week. This worker is able to take applications or accept referrals for all programs the Department of Health and Human Resources has to offer. The following is a list of some of the programs the Department has available.
Medicaid-Medical assistance for those who are disabled, or 65 years of age or older, or are a family with dependent children.
Nursing Home Care-Financial help for medically eligible persons in need of nursing home care.
Medicaid Waiver-Services for financially and medically eligible individuals who qualify for nursing home care but prefer to stay at home.
OBRA-Medical program for pregnant women and for children from infancy to 8 years of age.
QMB-Qualified Medical Benefits. Financial assistance for individuals within a certain income group who have Medicare benefits.
WV Works-Aid to families with dependent children. Help for parents with dependent children (under age 18) who are in need of financial assistance because of the lack of financial support due to unemployment, desertion or illness.
Emergency Assistance-Help for patients who have an emergency need for assistance with rent, shelter, utility bills, food, etc.
